Executive Chef Timothy Smith Auctions Dinners for the Hideaway Beach Club Cancer Committee

On February 2nd, Hideaway Beach Club hosted a remarkable gala benefiting the Moffitt Cancer Committee, featuring a unique auction including Chef Table dinners. 

Over his 35-year culinary career, Chef Tim has been dedicated not only to crafting exquisite dishes but also to supporting important causes, particularly those related to cancer research. Chef Tim began his journey at Hideaway Beach Club as Chef de Cuisine, with a vision to elevate the Coconut Grille Room into a premier upscale dining venue. His dedication and talent soon earned him a promotion to Executive Sous Chef, and ultimately to the esteemed position of Executive Chef. It is here that Tim found a fulfilling blend of culinary creativity and community engagement, forging deep connections with the club’s membership. 

Recognizing the profound impact of cancer in his own life—having witnessed its effects on several generations of women in his family, including his grandmother, younger sister, and most recently, his mother, who rang the recovery bell after two years of battling renal cancer—Chef Tim felt inspired to take action. He began auctioning off dinners for the Hideaway Cancer Committee long before its partnership with Moffitt. 

The response from the membership has been overwhelmingly positive. Members have not only supported the Cancer Committee’s fundraising initiatives but also the Food and Beverage team at Hideaway. The shared experience of supporting friends and loved ones affected by cancer has fostered a strong community spirit within the club. Having curated intimate dining experiences for over a decade, Chef Tim puts considerable thought into creating personalized menus for the guests at his auction dinners. This attention to detail allows attendees to enjoy a unique and memorable culinary journey, while simultaneously contributing to an important cause. 

Through his efforts, Chef Timothy Smith exemplifies how culinary artistry intersects with philanthropy, in his case, by uniting a community in the fight against cancer.
